The Dick Jones Hockey Tournament is dedicated to fostering a fun, safe, and positive environment where young athletes can develop their love for the game. Our goal is to promote teamwork and sportsmanship. Through friendly competition, we aim to create lasting memories for players, coaches, and families while emphasizing the importance of effort, respect, and a passion for hockey.

8U HALF ICE/CROSS ICE DIVISIONS

Red/White Level Games

2 Minute No Puck Warmup

1hour-minute games - Three 14 min periods. (This is a curfew rink, running clock may be used if needed)

Face off at the start of each period.

Games will be played with 4 skaters and a goalie

Goalie equipment required

All levels will use intermediate/ADM nets

½ ice game with rink divider boards

Buzzer for line changes every 2 min

4-Game Guarantee

Blue Level Games

42-minute games - three 14 min periods. (This is a curfew rink, running clock may be used if needed)

Face off at the start of each period.

Games will be played with 3v3 *4 players with one of them in net. (Basic Blue CSHL Game Formats).

All levels will use intermediate goals

1/3 cross ice game with pads dividing the ice.

Buzzer for line changes every 2 min

4-Game Guarantee


TIE BREAKERS (TO DETERMINE PLAYOFF TEAMS)

1. “GOAL DIFFERENTIAL”. THE TEAM WITH THE GREATER GOAL DIFFERENTIAL (GOALS FOR MINUS GOALS AGAINST) WILL ADVANCE. THE MAXIMUM GOAL DIFFERENTIAL ATTAINABLE PER GAME IS SIX.

2. LEAST GOALS AGAINST.

3. COIN TOSS

CHAMPIONSHIP TIE BREAKER

CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES THAT END IN A TIE WILL BE FOLLOWED BY:

1) 2 Minute Sudden Death OT period.

2) 3 player shootout round if still tied.

3) Sudden Death shootout if still tied.

  • Second seeded team shoots first.
  • Everyone must shoot before shooters can repeat.

BASIC RULES

Penalties-The offending player will leave the ice until the end of the shift, or a goal is scored from the opposing team.

Puck Play-Referee will wait until players are out and then continue play to keep it fair at shift change.

A representative or coach from each team will keep score for each game and at the end coaches/teams agree on final score.

INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR, CONDUCT OR LANGUAGE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND CAN RESULT IN EJECTION AND/OR TEAM FORFEIT.

Development and Coach/Player Interaction

A coach may be permitted on ice for each team to help kids if needed. The coach cannot interfere with the game play, or they will be asked to step off the ice. 

Rules and Tournament Format is subject to change based on registrations.

Anything not covered will be decided by the tournament director if needed.
